Tony Stark - Avengers Week

Mot being a Marvel fan I know very little about the Avengers. I have read some of the Benis Avengers issues but for me Justice Leagu International is the definitive superhero team book. Anyway, here's Downey as Tony Stark.

Sketchpaddys - Assemble!

Last weeks release of the trailer for the new Avengers movie got our little geeky hearts all a-flutter over here at Chez Sketchpaddy, so we've decided to have an Avengers themed week this week. So I'm kicking it all off with everyone's favourite thunder-god, Thor.

Also, Sketchpaddys has been nominated for an award! The blog is up for an Irish Comics News Award in the category of "Best Irish Comic Related Blog or Podcast". Aswell as that, Rob Carey is nominated in the category of "Best Mainstream Published Irish Artist", and I'm up in two categories too; "Best Self Published Irish Artist", and "Best Self Published Irish Comic" (for Short Sharp Shocks). So please pop over and give us your vote!

Queller Design

Well, since everybody seems to be allowed talk about it now, here's one of my character designs for a story I'm also doing for the Lightning Strikes Anthology .
This is the title character for the story "Queller", written by Dan Wright. Keep an eye out for this in 2012, its going to be huge!

FACES: STUART WILDE

Continuing in my series of FACES, a collection of images of people who have influenced my thoughts. So far I have done Alan Watts, Robert Anton Wilson, and Eliphas Levi. This one is of metaphysical author Stuart Wilde.

These will eventually be done with pen, ink and wash on paper as part of a future gallery hanging sometime next year. So I guess all of these are basically rough versions of how I envision the finished pieces.

Preview of some up coming projects.

"Canon Law charts the adventure of Canon Dave Law, an enforcer for the Catholic Church’s Internum Delicata Adiunctis (Internal Delicate Affairs). Solving ancients mysteries, destroying evil and making sure we never know about it make him the best at what he does. His ruthless efficency, and a reputation as a loose cannon, also ensures that his enemies, inside and outside the church, are beyond powerful and older than history.

It’s written by James Looney, a once comedian who made the finals of the Bulmers Nothing But Funny competition (and lost), and brought to life by Robert Carey, the workaholic artist of The Indifference Engine and the upcoming Band of Butchers, which will offer the reader a view into how deep and dark comics books can go"

The first image is from a short called Reality Watch, written by my awesome writer brother, Stephen Carey.
